While you're thinking about getting your carpet cleaned we'd like to bring your attention a largely neglected part your most people's homes; the dryer ventilation system. If you don't know the last time you had your dryer vent cleaned, you should definitely get it done. Poor dryer vent maintenance is a top cause of house fires in the U.S. Help us bring down the terrible statistics surrounding dryer vent maintenance and pass the word along.
In addition to some of the services we offer, there are different types of cleaning methods we use to customize what our customer wants and needs.
STEAM CLEANING- Probably one of the most popular of all the methods of carpet cleaning, steam cleaning involves hot water based solutions to extract dirt from the rug. Equipment is used to spray the solution onto the carpet while scrubbing and vacuuming up any dissolved dirt.
Many times in a high-pressure steam cleaning job, a manual or automatic pressurized cleaning to (wand) is used to pass over the area multiple times and thoroughly rinse out all of the chemical solutions that may still be in the rug.
Something you may not know is steam cleaning is technically hot water extraction. There is no steam used in the process. The term steam cleaning, when it comes to cleaning carpets, is a widely used misnomer, but it is an accepted term when referring to the hot water extraction method.
DRY CLEANING- Dry carpet cleaning is a great option for businesses because it uses specialized machines that use very little water which allows for a faster drying time. A commercial location can be back in normal operation in no time.
The dry carpet cleaning method uses Very Low Moisture (VLM) Systems which rely on dry compounds along with separately applied cleaning solutions, commonly known as preconditioners or "traffic lane cleaners", that break up and dissolve the soil in the rug within a short period of time.
Dry Cleaning doesn't cause as much stress on the carpet as Steam Cleaning does and also attracts less dirt to the carpet after drying.
Although Dry Cleaning has it's upsides and can actually be less labor intensive, it is more expensive then the other methods primarily because the VLM Systems are much more expensive to buy and to maintain.
BONNET CLEANING- In this cleaning method club soda (carbonated water) mixed with a cleaning solution is gently misted over the carpet followed by a round buffer which uses a rotating motion to scrub the mixture.
Bonnet cleaning is not considered a dry cleaning method and does take a significant time to dry.
This method is effective but is recommended for more robust carpets as it it's oscillating motions swirl the floor making it likely to extract some of the carpets fibers in the process.
ENCAPSULATION CLEANING- For this method, the name says it all. Encapsulation Cleaning is an up and coming technology that uses a process that actually encapsulates the soil particles on contact.
In the process of encapsulation a crystalline residue is applied to the rug and allowed 20- 30 minutes to dry. The residue is chemically formulated to grab onto and encapsulate the soil in the carpet which is vacuumed up once fully dry.
This process avoids the long drying times and allows the carpet to be available for use immediately after completion. It also creates a longer period of time before the carpet is resoiled and in need of another cleaning.
There are a few other methods of cleaning that are less used but effective for example Dry Ice Blasting, Vacuum Washing, Rotary Washing, Dry Foam Cleaning which are mostly used for specialty carpets needing special attention.
The more outdated Shampoo Cleaning method was more widely used in the 1970's and became less used once Encapsulation Cleaning and Steam Cleaning came about.
